Hey Epic,
I need a tool that can semi-automatically create Material Instances of Epic Base Material or Fortnite Base Material based on the materials and textures assigned to custom meshes and assign them to the meshes.
In the current UEFN, to stay within memory and project size constraints, using Epic Base Material instead of preparing a custom Master Material can significantly reduce costs, and we see this as very important. However, in the current workflow, we have to manually replace the materials assigned to all custom meshes, which is very labor-intensive when dealing with a large number of materials.
It is a challenging task, but could you provide a tool that can semi-automatically create Material Instances with Epic Base Material as the master, assign the already assigned textures (Base Color, ORC, Normal, etc.) to the created Material Instances, and assign the created Material Instances to the mesh?
If I could create something like an Editor Utility Widget as in UE5, we could make it ourselves, but this is not possible in UEFN. Automating the task in UE5 is also difficult because Epic Base Material is unique to UEFN.
I’d greatly appreciate your consideration.
Thank you,
