This tool was made to solve a variety of issues tech vis artists and stage operators face when planning volume and camera placement for ICVFX shoots. The standard NDC actor can take up a lot of visual real estate and it can be less desirable to have many of them placed in the scene. This tool was built based on the feedback and solutions shared by teams working on ICVFX projects.
The plugin leverages Unreal Geometry Scripting tools to dynamically update the tool’s meshes for quick edits to features such as the riser or horseshoe.
The dynamically generated meshes allowed us to build this tool with the ambition of creating a “one size fits all” solution to a variety of ICVFX wall shapes and sizes.
This plugin was built in Unreal Engine 5.0 but has been tested in 5.1 and no issues were detected. It is a content only plugin.
