IARC

I answered the questionnaire specific to my island code and got rejected for things like my title “:woman_zombie:SURVIVE: Echo Island:woman_zombie:” not being appropriate… How is that not appropriate? No guidance from Epic on how to fill it out for the stuff specific to them like chat. I did not see anything about us not being allowed to have creatures in thumbnails anymore. What a mess. Not sure if it’s broken or they didn’t tell us you can’t use words like survive and have a zombie emoji anymore.

@JohnnyBluePrint Thank you for your feedback. While I cannot guarantee a response, I can confirm that this has been forwarded to the appropriate team.

I’ve just had a similar issue. My island image was rejected even though it only had the sleuth chasing a robber, so I’m assuming having the word survive on my image caused the problem. Lord help anyone making a survival island lol.

Had a similar issue on my zombie map. Make sure that you have the “Violence” questions answered appropriately. If there are fiend/zombie antagonists, then you’re going to have “Violence against humans” (them attacking you) and “Violence against non-humans” (you attacking them). Most likely “frequent” and “close up”. The violence category also applies to environmental damage according to IARC, so like death runs and survival maps.

My speculation: if you have any implied violence (in name, thumbnail, or description) and wind up with a rating less than “Teen” they’re going to reject it.

i try to send a 1 v1 realistic map whit a warm up section whit bots…i have to set violence against human and bots ?

what happen if the map rating it’s +12 ?

Yes, if the map is fighting both humans (in the main 1v1) and bots (in the warmup) then you would check both of the violence boxes. It’ll end up being Teen rated, but that’s OK. Most maps are going to be Teen because the core game elements of Fortnite are Teen.

It is possible to get a lower rating (my one peaceful puzzle escape got approved with an Everyone rating), but it seems you have to avoid all implications of violence, death, injury, or scariness.

I had one non-violent rescue game get rejected with a E-10+ rating. I had to go back and tick the Violence against Humans box, even though there isn’t any actual violence (you just run around treating sick people and putting out fires). Once it was rated Teen, it was approved, even though IMHO (as a game designer and a parent) the original E-10+ was more appropriate.

Thx ! finaly i understen how i have to do hehe thx…

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, @JohnnyBluePrint. We are working on documentation to help give better guidance on some of our rules. We are also working on making our messaging more clear on violated rules.

Hi @Flak, is there any update as to when the new documentation will be available? As it stands currently moderation rejections and passes are still widely open to interpretation by moderators.

It would also be helpful if the rejection emails actually detailed the issue that was found instead of being just a generic “content within your creative island” or “your promotional image” etc, as that just causes frustration, doesn’t explain the issue, and wastes everyone’s time with repeat submissions until an island passes moderation.

Like the original poster I too had an island rejected because I had the word “survive” on the island image. If everyone had something they could reference that stated specifically what’s not allowed, including a list of potentially problematic words, then it would save so much time for everyone.
