IARC rating

After numerous attempts, my island was finally accepted. What resolved the issue was classifying it as violent and horror. It seems that simply having weapons in the game, whether in PvP or not, automatically qualifies as violent content. In my case, the horror aspect was primarily due to a sinister clown’s laughter.
I also marked ‘yes’ for an option in the questionnaire that pertained to sharing information among users, “I did that just for voice chat”.

It was very confusing for me because with each review, they told me something different, and they even said that my island’s video was inappropriate (it’s just shots of the entire map).

@Grinzler Thank you for your feedback. While I cannot guarantee a response, I can confirm that this has been forwarded to the appropriate team.

So Epic actually released info on how we should respond to certain questions here: IARC Overview and FAQs under " Fortnite-Wide Standards for Interactive Elements"

Still, doesn’t help much when I don’t know what I answered wrong lmao. They obviously know so just tell me XD

Im suprised no ones really talking about this, how are people able to publish there maps properly, my map keeps failing content review because of these rating questions.

what is your map about?

This is a helpful thread; I came here looking for others whose first attempts at self-rating were likewise rejected.

Now I’m stuck in the Publish workflow with a “phantom error,” and the Publish button won’t activate (un-grey), claiming that “Some fields contain errors, please fix them before publishing”.

There are no errors – all five screens have green checkmarks. Only Russian shows it won’t be available, with the SAME orange (!) that was present on the same tab during yesterday’s Publish of the same island version.

…and just like that, I discovered the answer – although I’m likely to file this one as a bug.

The text on this pop-up cannot be copied/pasted, but you’re looking for the little yellow caution-triangle. Mouse over that:

Okay, so the CONTENT is flagged as un-publishable because the RATING didn’t match it? This necessitates publishing another release, going back through all the screens & rating process, although nothing in the island content actually needs to be / will be changed.

In “the real world,” pushing to git without changing anything is kind of a faux pas… It creates needless work for yourself and your team members.

Closure & Verification for others who are stuck: @Grinzler 's advice is spot-on correct: You MUST include some checkmarks accurately stating that there is at least “Mild Fantasy Violence”, and if you use any of the Creature Spawners w/their default sound effects, you’ll find some of the “Scary” (not “Horrifying”) checkmarks are also required. In my tinkering island, these are indeed the checkboxes that were required to publish and get approval.
