Previously I made layers in Rhino based on what materials I wanted them to be, when I imported them into Twinmotion I collapsed the objects by the layer and that allowed me to quickly alter the materials. If I needed a specific object to be a different material I would just change the layer in Rhion and resync. Collapse by layer isn't available in the new data sync.
Collapse by material is an option, but why would I make materials in my Rhino when Twinmotion should be controlling all of that.
All of this wouldn't even matter if I could select multiple objects in Twinmotion and mass change their materials at once.
Hello ,
Thank you for posting in the community regarding the collapse method and its workflows. The Direct Link or udatasmith format all have the 3 Collapse options: Keep Hierarchy, Collapse by Material and Collapse All. Depending on your workflow there are different needs on where the textures should be applied. Most users apply a different material/texture in Rhino to the elements that should have the same material so they can use Collapse by material and apply the correct textures in Twinmotion. If you do not apply any textures in Rhino I can see why it is more comber sum to work in Twinmotion since you have to import the elements with Keep Hierarchy.
For the feature request regarding being able to select multiple objects and apply the same material if needed or having a collapse by layer option, I recommend you make a suggestion in the road-map so our team can evaluate this request: https://portal.productboard.com/7pu88c9kpmqtzt8hwg6arujh/tabs/4-under-consideration
