My project should be a “open world turn based rpg” that means my pc will build the large map often and i will use blender, iclone and more at the same time. And of course 4k textures.
I will use:
Zotac 1070 extreme edition
32 GB Ram ( because it turned out 16 gb weren’t enough for my last project )
1 TB Samsung SSD
And for CPU i was thinking about AMD Threadripper but i am not sure which one
So the main question is which CPU can save me some time if it comes to build lighting and so on.
Well considering I have a similar build (even the ram), and more cores will help with light building, so your looking at 16 threads for around $450, then 24 threads for $700, and the top at 32 threads for $800 (price reference, Newegg). So If you don’t plan to distribute the light building with swarm, then its a budget question. Performance will be great on all of these in the editor, so the only thing your doing is decreasing your light build times. So ask yourself, “how much is that build time worth”. If your working on personal projects I say cut the cores and save the cash, just get the 1900x. But if you work on large projects, and build a lot then just go for the 1950x.
Or you could just get a small server, and use that for the light building, because more cores/ram is the take of the cake with build times.
