I saved 6 k and want to buy a computer that can run UE 5 smooth, but have no idea about Computer

Hi there. I work with an older laptop and Unreal Engine, but it is, though. I saved 6k and wanted to buy a computer, that can handle UE 5. I work on a battle royale in an 3D environment. Is there a Computer you can recommend ? I also would need a Computer screen etc. Is this even possible?
Wish you a nice day.

buy a box don’t buy yourself a laptop you can always stream to your old laptop from a new box

This is needed:

This is what I would buy (sry the site is in german but you should understand the important parts):

this

It would cost around 6,5k with windows 11, a monitor and some minor improvments. Is this a good deal?

When I originally saw this thread I wondered whether these were rubles, dollars or yen. It’s Euro.

Is this a good deal?

The components in the PC are worth around 3.5k-4k euro were you to buy them separately. Eyeballing it. So you’re paying 2k for the assembly. It’s up to you whether it’s worth.

Can’t recommend the setup if you own small animals as pets and they roam around. :scream:

there are alot off local computer stores that do custom builds with $ 200 mounting weight
just go there with all the parts (having heard the parts serial numbers before taking everything to the shop) no one can be trusted today

That’s awesome — with $6K saved, you can definitely build or buy a machine that runs Unreal Engine 5 smoothly. UE5 is demanding, but with the right parts you’ll get great performance.

For UE5, the most important components are:

:fire: GPU — This matters the most for real-time rendering.
:video_game: CPU — Handles compilation, simulations, and overall performance.
:floppy_disk: RAM — 32 GB is a good sweet spot for UE5 workflows.
:file_cabinet: Fast storage — NVMe SSDs make load times and shader compilation much better.

A good target spec for smooth UE5 work would be something like:

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080 / 4090 or AMD RX 7900 XT/XTX

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X / Intel i9-13900K or better

  • RAM: 32–64 GB DDR5

  • Storage: 1 TB NVMe SSD + optional extra drive

  • PSU & cooling: 80+ Gold PSU and good cooling

With $6K, you could either build a high-end PC with these parts or look at prebuilt workstations if you prefer ready-to-go setups.

If you share whether you want to build it yourself or buy prebuilt, and what you’ll mainly use UE5 for (gaming, real-time visuals, cinematic rendering), I can suggest exact parts and prices that fit your budget.
