I remade Mega Man in Unreal Engine 5

I remade Mega Man using Paper 2D in a 2D/3D Hybrid style!

I recently adopted a new method of practicing pixel art through making mega man sprite edits and thought it would be a cool idea to turn them into bosses to fight.
But in order to realize that I first had to remake mega mans move set in Unreal Engine 5.

Hopefully this will be an ongoing series

Wow, such a fantastic and creative way to get efficient with pixel art! That was a great introduction to your Mega Man remake in the works. I look forward to seeing more updates, and thank you for sharing!

Hi there @CobraCode,

Hope you’re well and having a wonderful week so far!

I don’t believe I’ve seen any 2D pixel art characters with 3d environments before, but I’m kind of obsessed with it now. 2D games have never really been on my radar simply because of how it looks, but this changes the game for me. Simply because of how it feels modern yet reminiscent of those old school 2d games. Out of curiosity, how long have you been working on this project?

Thank you
There will definitely be a few more episodes, but if I go all the way through with making 9 bosses will depend on how things go and if people like the series.

Thank you

Yeah it’s a similar story for me.
I really didn’t wanna go back to doing unity, but I love pixel art, so I found this nice mix that makes use of Unreal Engine’s awesome features, but still keeps that distinct look.

The mega man one in particular only took me about 3 days to make, but I’ve been doing this 2D/3D Hybrid style for about 2 years now and have a lot of tutorials about it on my YouTube channel

This was my first attempt at it.

That is excellent news; I can’t wait to see the upcoming episodes! I’m sure this series is going to do well, so I’m looking forward to seeing all nine bosses. :raised_hands:

Hey there @CobraCode !

I would first like to thank you for opening my eyes to a genre of gaming I didn’t know I needed! The 2d/3d style is such an interesting look and design that I want to explore more of. I was peeking at the video you originally posted as well as the ones around your Youtube and would like to thank you for being so thorough. Emphasizing on certain aspects during your video made it so much easier to follow along and made it feel like anyone could truly learn!

One thing I don’t think I caught was if the sprite maker you used was free or not and I apologize if I missed it!

@CobraCode, definitely an amazing bit of work for being complete in just a few days. Do you have plans to add more to this specific game or maybe do a spinoff that is similar?

Thank you for the kind words!

I use aseprite.
It is open source and you can get it for free if you compile it yourself.
It’s not self explanatory, but there are some tutorials.

Alternatively you can just buy it on steam or on their website for I think 20$.

I’m practicing pixel art now and love street fighter, so my plan is to draw street fighter characters as bosses you fight in the game.
