I’m curious if I have the ability to write a script/program in Twinmotion to substitute imported Vectorworks symbols with Twinmotion symbols from its internal library. If that's possible, where can I do that?

(I'm a very novice user of Twinmotion, but an expert VW user/programmer) My current VW symbol library doesn’t have any materials attached to its 3D components so using the functionality to substitute materials during the import process in Twinmotion isn’t very helpful. I’m hoping I can write a simple script to substitute symbols but don’t know if I have that kind of access or functionality within Twinmotion to do that. Hoping you might have some clarification to help guide my search in working Twinmotion into my workflow.

Hi David, unfortunately, Vectorworks does not have a connection to choose what Twinmotion objects to substitute automatically on import. This is something that has been discussed but is yet to be implemented. If you wish to submit this as a suggestion raise the priority on this.

I've submitted this as a suggestion. I hope it happens soon. Vectorworks does not handle 3D object as effectively as Twinmotion does.

Thank you so much, the development team is looking at it.

Cheers
