I Just return from marketplace they want changes and they want me to do this :
and i have like 800+ materials and textures they are named random so do i really have to put M_ and T_ and if i have to
how can i put those to 800+ materials
or i just have to solve other issues and send again thnx
If you don’t have a naming convention, then hopefully you have them in separate folders. You can then just append the “M_” to all files in folder “Materials” for example.
Should i do this one by one or there is a easy way?
There is a “Batch rename” plugin on the marketplace, and there is also Linter on the ue4 marketplace.
(Linter might not be available for latest ue4 versions)
This could save you a lot of time.
If you don’t want to spend any money (but want to waste time) then yes, you’ll need to rename all of these in the content browse manually.
You should have paid more attention to the ue4 marketplace EULA and submission guidelines, it would have prevented these issues before the team addressed them.
Besides not following proper (and rather generic) naming conventions like M_ MI_ T_ SM_ etc I can already see many materials that are identical and should be cleaned/consolidated.
Keep in mind that nobody wants to buy a package with materials that are just named Material_3242424
neither do they want to buy packs with M_2342424 or whatever.
You need to give each of them a name that represents their function/structure/usage.
And many of these materials look like they could have been derived from one master material and many material instances.
Here is more info about naming conventions: https://github.com/Allar/ue4-style-guide
And all the other info is easily google-able and findable in the documentation.
So you dont know something basic as material instances, yet you want to sell on the marketplace?
Ouch.
Material instances have nothing to do with the UV’s of a mesh.
All it does is take a copy from the material its looking at, and allows you to replace variables like the textures. Really, look it up. This is basic stuff you need to know when using ue4.
Light, glass, walls, floors they have material instances but the think i wanted to say is for example i have golden chair stick if i want to use it for my door holder it gets incorrect shapes. so you have to make an other golden material for holder if you don’t have any other material outside of Substance Painter.
and i am still nooby if you have any suggestion i’ll listen
