I imported my Archicad model to Twinmotion with the Datasmith Direct Link option. I had to change the name of my Archicad file (actually, I had to teamwork the file). How can I point the Datasmith to the new Archicad File. Objects are the same.
I found this article which is basically what I intuitively tried first. I clicked on the ... and selected direct link settings. I then clicked on the ... in that box but it would not open a file selection dialogue box. So I can't select the new file. https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/article/Getting-Started-using-Datasmith-Workflows-with-Twinmotion?language=en_US
The link is broken as shown in the box. I click on the ... above and select Direct Link Settings and get this:
I click on the ... and nothing comes up. I didn't have My CAD program open on purpose. I then opened up the old file and the name appears in this box. I can check the settings, but OK is always greyed out and I cannot click it. I opened the new file that I want to link to, and part of the name appears, and again, I can click on it, but I cannot click okay.
File names change throughout a project during different phases or revisions. I'm pretty sure I have repointed a source file before, but that may have been before Datasmith.
This is a must have feature. If there is something wrong with my version, please help. If this is intended behavior of the program, please update it to allow a new source from the datasmith link. I'm sure you don't understand why this is important, so either believe me that it is, or write or call me for further discussion please. I will convince you.
I found the problem as I was trying to start from scratch and couldn't import from a file. If the "Enable Substitutions" box is checked, the "OK" button is disabled. So have the Twimotion File open, Open the new or newly named Archicad File. Click on the 3 dots above the broken link and open the "Direct Link Settings". Click on the 3 dots for the source and you should see your open Archicad File, then Expand the options and uncheck the box and the link is now pointing to the correct file!.
Silly error in the program cost a lot of time messing around.
