I do this all the time when I create a new level. It will only migrate whatever is referenced on the level. I remove the player start and any AI that I already have in the project. You will have to change the game mode settings on your level and any new inputs or plugins you use, after the migration. You will also be notified some assets are the same and do you want to overwrite them. If you have made any changes to assets you already have in your project (here is where you might run into problems). I usually try not to overwrite anything that is already in the project. and make the changes after the migration.
The best way (I’ve found) when I’m creating a new level I have a copy of the original project and that’s where I create the new level. It makes it easier to reuse assets I’m already using and I can test if any changes would affect other levels.
That’s just me. Others may have better ways.
You can add a template from with in the project at any time and use the game override with in the details panel. At the top of the browser click on “add new” followed by selecting Add Feature or Content Pack. Another option is to copy the content folder over to the 3rd person project as long as it’s the same version.
