so i don’t have it but i do have geforce xp please tell where ican get it if i need it
It’s not that you need it, I was thinking that it could be the cause of the error that you are seeing. I’ve only seen this error when users are running UE4 on just an integrated Intel graphics card.
Optimus gives you control over which graphics card is being used to process information. Sometimes it will tell the Intel card to take over when UE4 launches.
However, I just found this post and it seems to be a similar issue with a Lenovo machine. Take a look at the excepted answer and let me know if the workaround fixes the issue.
i am having a problem i cannot change what is being used it just says: use global settings (auto select integrated) and it wont let me change it
Could you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?
At this point I believe you will need to contact Nvidia’s support team. From what I can tell, machines that have that optioned grayed out (as pictured above) may need to change the preferred graphics card in the BIOS of the computer. If you are not familiar with system BIOS, the wrong alterations there can cripple your machine.
I’m quite confident that once you fix that setting UE4 should run correctly. At that point, if you are still having issues, please feel free to post back here and we can continue to help you troubleshoot.
Cheers,
TJ
tj i have been looking for about 30min and i cannot find out how to change the card. Please tell me if you know someone who does or a link to where i could post a question (note geforce/Nividias forums). I will keep looking for an awnser or a place i could post a question i will post a reply on this if i find a place or awnser
never mind tj i have sent a message to nividia
tj at this point i have gone to nividia and they have told me to update my bios after sending a message to lenovo would you recommend this as it correlates with what you said about bios
If that is what both Nvidia and Lenovo recommended then it is probably the best solution. I’m not very familiar with updated BIOS myself but just make sure to get the correct version that your machine needs. Lenovo should be able to point you in the right direction for that.
i have not actually talked with lenovo yet i have there phone number but i cant find forums to ask questions
His looks about right:
thanks tj.
ok tj i took the computer in and apparently a switch on my laptop was broken. this switch controlled whether or not my graphics card was on. When it was broken it just did nothing and only during the time it is working can i change my 3d settings so they fixed it and everything worked out
TJ I HAVE A NEW PROBLEM (sadly). Look at this image
