I cannot get TwinMotion to recognize Meta Quest 2 headset even though it is plugged in. What do I need to do to get this to work? I am using a mac and have tried 2 different computers, 1 with Catalina 10.15.7 and Radoen Pro 5500XT 8GB, and 1 with M1 Pro

I know the computers being used many not have an appropriate graphics card, but I want to get this at least working and have the headset recognized before our firm invests in a better graphics card. The cable is mini to mini hdmi and stated that it was VR approved. The cable is an Insignia VR cable. I have the quest plugged in with the green charging light on before launching TwinMotion.

Here is a couple things that helped me when I was having trouble doing the same thing at my firm.

Make sure you have the oculus desktop app.

  1. Make sure that under "devices" you have the green checkmark when you have your oculus plugged in. If not than that cable wont correctly connect the oculus. I had this issue and ended up just purchasing the Oculus Link Cable for like 80 dollars.
  2. Make sure that in the oculus desktop app that under Settings>General>Unknown sources is checked on. This allows Twin motion to be ran on the oculus as it isn't from the oculus store.
  3. Following the instructions in this video helped me get the wire to recognize the oculus as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrxiAGkdWro&list=LL&index=18

Hello ,

Thank you for contacting us and posting in the community about using the Meta Quest 2 for mac, and at this time there is no compatible VR headset with a macOS operating system for Twinmotion. To get VR working on a Mac you would need to have an eGPU machine running Window with boot camp and compatible drivers. Exporting 360 degree videos or panorama's could be a working solution for you (Reference the playlist video link below)

For the best VR experience in Twinmotion we recommend a windows machine for the best experience and using the necessary hardware based on the scene and the requirements here: https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/article/Twinmotion-System-Requirements

Here is an overview video of the VR webinar we did awhile ago:

Hope this helps and let us know if you have any follow-up questions.

It has been nearly 9 months since this last post. I am curious whether there is any update about compatibility with MacOS for use with VR functionality.

This link suggests compatible VR headsets, however I cannot find current information limiting this to Windows machine only. This link is 4months newer than the last post in this thread.

Hello ,

Thank you for the feedback and follow-up. The VR function in Twinmotion is limited to Windows machine hardware but Apple is expected to release their first headset in the coming year or so. https://www.apple.com/apple-vision-pro

We invite you to post on the road-map for suggestions/ideas for supporting the new XR headset for Apple as that is not a traditional VR headset. https://portal.productboard.com/7pu88c9kpmqtzt8hwg6arujh/tabs/4-under-consideration
