I can publish the game?

Hello,I`m started to use Unreal Engine and I want to make a game, but first i want to know if i can publish a game and if it cost someting.

Subscription costs $20, and can be canceled at any time, after that you can continue using the version you paid for but you won’t get any new updates.
If you want to sell a game you made, you have to pay a 5% royalty to Epic

Just to add the 5% royalty is only payable when you earn greater than $3000/quarter per product

Also take a look at this site: https://www.unrealengine/release

How does one go about paying this 5%?

Does one simply send an email saying “Here is your 5%, we’ve deposited it in your bank account, just trust us this is the right amount.”

As far as i know you make a report of your sales for that quarter of the year and send it to Epic with the 5%. By signing the license for UE4 you are agreeing to pay what you owe to Epic so it is your responsibility to pay the right amount of money. If you are dishonest and Epic feels like investigating you, you are in trouble…

In fact, if you start selling your game you are required to keep accurate accounts (see https://www.unrealengine/eula section 6). So, if Epic thinks you’re cooking the books, they could audit you.

Note however that if this is a very small scale project and it earns less than $3000 per quarter then no royalties are owed to Epic.

If you read the license carefully there is a part that says that the first $3000 of income per financial quarter (i.e. every 3 months) do not incur royalties. This implies you can make up to $3000 * 4 = $12000 in a single year without paying any royalties to Epic, provided that each quarter’s earnings do not exceed $3000.

Here’s the list of conditions under which you do not owe 5% revenue to Epic, taken directly from the EULA for your reference:
