I am trying to create a workflow to make virtual characters using Unreal Engine 5.

I primarily use Blender or Cinema 4D. For a new project, I am forming a team to create characters in these 3D programs and then use Unreal Engine for live rendering or final rendering. The team consists of a character animator, an Unreal level designer, and a post-production supervisor. We plan to use motion capture for character animation.

I am curious about the best workflow for this type of project. The character workflow I am considering is as follows:

  1. Create the characters in external programs, then integrate them with the Unreal rigging process, and finalize the animation in Unreal.
  2. Work on the camera and character animation in external programs, then import them into Unreal.

I am wondering which workflow is more efficient and closer to the correct approach. I always appreciate the help from the community.
