I am struggling with Global Illumination Shadows looking like they are floating

I am having trouble understand why this effect is occurring and how I can make it look better.

See the screenshot and notice the shadow from the parking curb and the ground looks disconnected. It’s one single mesh and I am using global illumination. I even have AO textures but I don’t think that does anything with GI active.

Is there something that can be done here or is this just “normal”?

OK, again I find what I think i am looking for only after I make a post about it. Contact shadows from Directional Lighting seems to be the answer. Though still open to other suggestions.

Looks OK but now tree trunks seems to cut short…

I’m glad you solved it yourself! Though for me, all the shadows are already contacting the objects on the ground by default. I wonder what have you changed
