I AM RIPPER Development

Hey everyone!

Last week we announced our new thriller game ‘I AM RIPPER’!

We’ve been quiet about it for a while whilst we locked in the quality bar we wanted to hit but now it’s out in the world, we’re excited to share the development with the community in case any of our experience helps others build their games!

We’ve been sharing our UE development work ever since the very early days of moving our small UDK game Ether One into UE4 and documenting the progress. Since then, we’ve had a great relationship with Epic that has been building over the years and we can’t thank them enough for the incredible support they give to indie teams like ours.

We’re excited to share the journey with you all and we’ll break down as many processes as we can to give you an insight into how we develop our narrative driven titles in case it helps anyone else with their cool games.

Thanks in advance for checking out our work! :folded_hands:

We’d be absolutely lost without the use of Control Rig on our projects now! RIPPER is developed with some pretty complex setups which we’ll dig into in future posts, but if you’re interested in dynamics, driving morph targets, procedural animation, and a bunch more topics, our Tech Director’s talk from Unreal Fest earlier this year just went live to check out!

We just posted a Tutorial Breakdown on these forums about how we create footprints in the snow. If you’re working on a project with snow, sand or other soft ground, we hope it helps with your own work!

Hello @Pete_Bottomley !

I wanted to say that I am far beyond excited for I Am Ripper! Your announcement had me especially hooked, but I really wanted to give you a shoutout for sharing how you got your footprints in the snow! This is something I’ve always wondered and had trouble with, but your showcase really helped me to understand how it works!

Keep up the amazing work and I cannot wait for the release of I Am Ripper!
