When setting up a Hyperwallet, the Account Profile asks for a “Government ID” if you select a country other than the United States. Is this a TIN for our company?
As noted, we are a company, so the “Home Address” fields and “First Pet” security questions don’t really make sense.
My company is not located in the US and has no operations in the US.
There shouldn’t be a reason for us to pay US taxes.
I’ll contact Epic Support directly as well, but it would be good if other indie publishers could have an answer to this as well.
Please let me know if this is not the case, but I think you might be at the business contact verification step of the Hyperwallet account creation process. Even if you are setting up an account for a company, Hyperwallet will still require a business contact to go through all of the individual verification steps. This is probably why you are getting questions about home address and first pet. Additional information about the verification steps can be found here. I’ve attached a list of accepted individual government ID formats here for your reference. If you have already completed the business contact verification step and are going through the business verification steps, please let me know and we will find an answer for you. If you need to share any confidential or private information please do so through a private EOSHelp case. Thanks!
I apologize if the below sounds negative, but compared to other stores/payment processes, this store setup is not as user friendly as we expected. I think most of this is Hyperwallet’s fault, but Epic did choose to use it.
So the only logical way seems to be to register our CEO’s information under the business contact information page. Ideally, this could have been done by someone else at our company, but doing so and skipping some information as kamgam mention above leads to another hyperwallet confirmation page “Verify Payee” from the email “Issue verifying taxpayer information”. Entering/confirming the Business Contact’s information here as the “payee” does not make sense, which again, only leaves our CEO as a sensible option.
I can ask our CEO for their Government Number and favorite pet’s name, but they will not be the business contact or the payee. The business contact will be the person managing the store. The payee will be our business.
If I am misunderstanding something, please let me know. Otherwise, we would suggest Epic and Hyperwallet correct the terminology or make the process simpler. We haven’t even reached the Proof of Business Registration or other multiple steps…
