Huge residential complex

The first part of work on a huge residential complex.

Great! May I ask what your workflow is? I’m working on my college thesis and these types of large projects will help me out the most. Also are you planning on adding people to the project, if so how would you do it. Thanks.

I don’t know how deep you learned UE4. Perhaps I should explain how it happens.
During the preparation stage for export to Unreal Engine we have to do Optimization and UV Unwrapping. This is the biggest part of the job. UE this is a game engine. It make render in real time. Therefore, every object, sofa or vase should be optimized. In most cases, automatic optimization produces a bad result.

After that comes the turn Unwraping. This operation is also performed with all the objects. And In this case, the automatic Unwraping in 3DS max not always give a positive result.

And after that in the UE we configure materials and lights. Unfortunately it is not possible to automatically transfer the materials settings from 3DS Max.

Interesting solution using cube maps in the rooms to replace the need to have an exterior environment.

Honest 3D would be too heavy.

I would image so, did you attempt to do anything to address the loss of parallax depth from using a cubemap?

No, we didn’t do anything with it. Just a cubemap.

SergoMYID Thanks for the respons! I have actually done a lot of interior projects in UE4, however, such workflow (Revit>3ds Max>UE4) is not going to cut it for my thesis project which is actually a civic center composed of several buildings and outdoor spaces. I’m thinking of just switching to lumion 8 after seeing their trailer only to find out that it’s actually not real time.
From the comments above I saw that you actually created a cube map of the exterior model and used it in the interior scene, could you elaborate on that as I think that would actually be a quite handy solution.

I don’t quite understand what else to say  I made the exterior, counted the cube maps and used it as an environment for the interior. That’s all.

I like it. Only issue is the green foliage/grass/tree/ferns are way too bright green.

Very nice done! could you provide us with more information on those water fountains outside of the building? they look very good.
