HTML5 package debug?

My game works as a Windows desktop package and as an Android package. When I tried HTML5, the UMG works, but the entire 3D scene is black. How do I debug this - I don’t even know where to start…

I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?
  2. If so, could you provide a detailed list of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
  3. Could you provide screen shots of any blueprints/settings that may be involved?
  4. Could you make sure that your default level is set in your project settings?
  1. I’m not sure what you mean. I don’t know which blueprints/settings are involved. My level has an actor, cameras, and lights in the editor plus more actors that are generated in C++ code. But all I get is a black screen for HTML5 package.

  2. Project Settings > Default Maps > Game Default Map is set. Again, the game works fine on Windows desktop and Android as packages. HTML5 package I can see UMG but no 3D content (all I get besides UMG is just a black screen).

Thank you for the additional information. However, I will need to you answer the first two questions as well. As for what screen shots would be helpful. Screen shots of the widgets and how they are setup would be helpful.

Here’s a screen shot of the editor. I would expect to at least see that board actor. But in HTML mode, I don’t see anything except UMG. Everything in HTML package (except UMG) is black.

I don’t know to debug this. There’s a lot of things that could make the world pitch black. Maybe the lighting is broken? Maybe the camera is broken? Maybe the actors are broken? Maybe it’s some configuration setting? Maybe it’s just a bug in UE4’s HTML5 support for Chrome?

Note you asked for “screen shots of the widgets”, but the UMG widgets are the only thing that works. The thing that doesn’t work is the 3D scene - it’s entirely black.

After further testing I am unable to reproduce this issue on our end. Would it be possible for you to zip down a copy of the project that is having the issue so that I could take a closer look?
