How would one start off on making a rhythm game in Unreal Engine 4?

I’m familiar with C++, but not entirely good at it. While I’ve tried using a single library for UE4, it had completely crashed the editor, leaving me no choice but to try communicating with the forums for guidance. The library in question was MidiFile, by Craig Sapp. Would there be any other libraries that could assist in making rhythm games, or should I just stop this pipe-dream all together?
