how to zoom in viewport navigation

Hey all

working in the demo off of steam.

Complete noob here. so new that I don’t know the terms with which to search for the answer.

I am trying to navigate in the viewport. I used to be able to drag the mouse while left clicking and through a combination of keys, ZOOM into the model. I searched the list of keyboard shortcuts and zoom was used only once in the entire list. I thought I should search for scale instead, but that was equally fruitless.

How does one navigate in the viewport? I have 3D view on - I can right click and rotate the view - I just can’t seem to get any closer - but I could at one point - I changed the layout - is it dependent on that?

Is there a basic navigating in the viewport video I can be sent to?

thanks!

Michael

Hi Michael,

I don’t think changing the layout will impact that behaviour.

Zooming in 3D is simply done with the mouse wheel.

With the LMB you simply pan along the XY plane.

Something I learned only recently is that with LMB and RMB you can pan parallel to the viewing plane…

thank you! I am just trying this out on a computer that has a mouse with NO mouse wheel

However, i was doing it without a mouse wheel, so there must be some kind of mouse keyboard combo that I’ve already forgotten

thanks for the tips!

NO WHEEL ? ?

Awesome, how old is that one?

Did you maybe press F? That homes in on the pivot.

That’s the only thing I could find under “shortcuts” in the help section…

Hello Michael,

you can also try to change the navigation style in the Application settings. With other navigation styles you can zoom in and out with the right mouse button.
