How to view locomotion state machine in action?

Beginner question, I saw in the documentation that it is possible to see the state transitions while they are being performed. See the video here

(above the text In the video above, we use a Standard Blend to blend between animations. Both animations are sampled at the same time and crossfade during the transition.)

But how do you activate this?

I created a simple state machine, and I see the transitions happen in the game when I hit play and (i.e.) jump, but not in the state machine.screenshot

It just stays stuck at “Idle/Walk/Run”.

… anyone? I suppose it’s basic behaviour.
