How to use local bone rotation coordinates?


First of all, I feel like this topic must have been covered already, but I just couldn’t think of a “title question” to search for, so I apologize in advance if I am wasting time.
I’m trying to rotate a character’s pelvis bone using the Transform(Modify) Bone node in the Animation BP. As far as I understand it, using bone space in the node, I should be able to make the rotation space “follow” the bone and make the bone’s “up” vector adjust. However, even If I set the rotation space to bone space, it still does not follow the bone. I have included a sketch to illustrate my problem:
