How to unfocus button?

I created a function to determine which one of these 4 buttons has the keyboard focus.

The problem i have is when you click any other button, the button with the focus doesnt clear or i dont know how to clear it. Is there a node or a different set up i can use to unclear the keyboard focused button?

(Ultimately i want to get the current project settings and apply the focus to the selected settings)
