The animation is one an uppercut reaction, I only need the flying through the air part. But however it is turned the wrong way. Essentially everything I have tryed has not worked. I may have to open this animation in something other than UE and try to turn this around. But hey perhaps someone thinks they know how to fix this in UE? Or any suggestions about what to do or other programs for this?
I found a video tonight that I believe should solve this issue if I could do what he was saying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3_BNyIgrzk According to that dude UE5 has a bug that even if you use “force root lock” on an animation, root motion still gets through. That is exactly what I am seeing here.
I tried to do what he said in Blender but it did not strip out the root motion. Here is a file of just what I needed of this animation if someone out there can strip it of all root motion it would be much appreciated!
In the animation segment of the engine, if you can find the curve editor, you can change variables like this here. Id recommend finding a tutorial for it playing around with it, definitely save a copy before tho it can be tricky and easy to mess things up at first, it’s super useful for modifying animations after import or even rigging new ones(I use blender primarily)
When that option is checked “Force Root Lock”, it seems to negate all of my efforts and always turns it the wrong way. With that option checked, I need it to be rotated around 180 degrees. Does anyone know anything?
You need to edit the animation within Maya or Blender. It looks like you’re using a store bought animation, you need to remove the frames you don’t need and edit the root animation to face the right way.
I would advise watching some blender tutorials and making your own animations, or at least learning how to modify them. Store bought assets tend to be hyper specific and (usually) vary greatly in timing, pace and overall character of movement, making them difficult to use with others not made to be compatible.
