How to simplify realistic textures

I’m trying to create a film with a simplistic, cartoon/cell-shaded look. I’ve bought assets from the marketplace, as well as used assets from Quixel, but most have a more realistic look to the materials. Is there a way to simplify or change the looks of these materials within Unreal itself. The only option I’ve been able to find would entail exporting over 100 materials one by one and editing them in Photoshop. Please help!

Hi @Wowcastle! Welcome to the Forums!

Without editing the textures themselves, you have a few options.

  • The first would be to go into the material editor built into Unreal. This would let you tweak all of your settings, including replacing the textures for the assets themselves.
  • The second option would be to use a post process material. These would allow you to change the overall look of your assets without having to individually change them all. There are also several toon shaders on the Marketplace if you need any reference.

I hope one of the above solutions works for you!
