How to set up Rider for Unreal Engine 5.1

Having an issue with creating a new blank project using Rider as the IDE. I have Visual Studio Community 2019 installed along with Microsoft .NET SDK 6.0.100 (x64).

After creating a blank project and installing RiderLink (to game only evidently it will not work if it is installed to the engine) I get thousands of errors and cannot build.

I have tried uninstalling everything and installing in this order:

  1. .NET SDK
  2. Visual Studio 2019
  3. Unreal Engine 5.1
  4. Rider

Any and all advice would be appreciated

I was able to get it to work by reinstalling everything again the order I showed above, maybe I did something wrong the first two times I don’t know.
