How to set the library path to an external ssd in Quixel Bridge

Hello, folks:)
Trying to save all the downloads in quixel bridge to an external ssd, but not allowed to set any other place than the internal disk in the preference. Any suggestion will be great. I’m using UE 5 on a m1 mac with OS monterey.

If you are unable to change the download location of Quixel Bridge on your M1 Mac, there may be a few things you can try:

  1. Try running Quixel Bridge as an administrator: Sometimes permissions issues can prevent applications from accessing external drives. Right-click on the Quixel Bridge application icon, and select “Run as administrator.” Once Bridge is running with elevated privileges, try changing the download location again.
  2. Grant Quixel Bridge access to your external SSD: Open the “Security & Privacy” settings on your Mac, and click on the “Privacy” tab. From there, click on “Files and Folders” in the left-hand pane, and then scroll down and make sure that Quixel Bridge is checked. This will grant Bridge permission to access files and folders on your external SSD.
  3. Try changing the download location from within Quixel Bridge: In the Quixel Bridge Preferences, click on the “Downloads” tab, and then click on the folder icon next to the “Download Path” field. This should open a file browser window, which may allow you to select your external SSD as the download location.
  4. Reinstall Quixel Bridge: If none of the above options work, you may need to uninstall and reinstall Quixel Bridge. During the installation process, make sure to select your external SSD as the installation location.

I hope one of these options works for you. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thank you for your help. But unfortunately, none of these 4 are not working.
I couldn’t find the quixel bridge application because it’s running background after running unreal editor. Therefore quixel bridge is not shown in the ‘files and folders’ on ‘privacy’ tab in the ‘security & privacy’.
The situation is not getting better either after changing privileges of epic game launcher which is a kind of host application to ‘read & write’ or uninstalling & re-installing the quixel bridge.
BTW do you think my account status can make these problem? I’m logging in using my google account instead of epic games account.

I tried with epic games account but the same thing happened. Just got stucked. Any help will be grateful.

Hey @ylee341!

Are you using UE 5.x? If so, are you setting the location inside of the Bridge plugin? I seem to be having no issues when doing setting an external hardrive as the save location though preferences.

Would you mind sharing screencaps of your process? (with any possible personal information blurred of course)

I just fixed. I didn’t know that ‘/Volumes/’ should be written with the name of external hard drive on Mac.
Thank you all your support and help, GouthamMannuru and Quetzalcodename

Could you please post how you did it. I can’t get mine to save to my external hard drive. I am on Mac but the path with /Volumes/ just saves to my C: Drive when I put it in.
