How to set Local Coordinate System in 3DS MAX?

How do I set Local Coordinate System (LCS) in 3DS MAX? In AutoCAD, I can set User Coordinate System (UCS) by snapping to two corners of an object.

Up at the top there’s a dropdown that by default is set to View, you can change that to Local or Parent or whatever so that the object moves based off the direction it’s rotated.

I still draw rectangles and boxes on the horizontal and vertical axes, not at an angle that I set using LCS.

Then what you are looking for is not a local coordinate system, but a custom one. Either create a custom grid and activate it as the current reference grid or simply activate the “autogrid” option when creating your options, which will automatically create a temporary custom grid on any surface of a model.
