How to see how many face i select on model

Relative decimation dosen't work on selected part of model

Good morning, i try to simplify a selected part of model with relative decimation (setted to 20) but at the end of process the result have the same faces and points of the original one. i have missed some setting or there is a bug in this setting? Thank you
