Is there a way to save a players user data on UEFN servers. In other words, is there a way for players to save their progress when playing the experiences. For example, saving a players progress and inventory in a tycoon or adventure game so that when the come back to play the experience, they don’t need to start over.
Thank you
Your best bet right now might be to serialize the state of the player as a string that could then be used as a password to reload the game state.
Persistence is not supported in UEFN at the moment but is planned to be added in the future.
I hope it’s pretty high on the priority list. I’m building an RPG style game where where I plan to keep character stats and equipment persistent. All I need is one string variable.
+1 on the high priority!
I know there’s probably alot of things taking higher priority than this, but is there a roadmap of any kind for features? Because being able to make HTTP requests to store and retrieve player data for stats and progress etc on a custom server would be ideal!
+1 for this please!
Any chance of getting an ETA for when this feature / persistence will be added?
This is extremely limiting for the type of experiences that can be created with UEFN!
Sure, I read through that page before commenting in this thread.
However, I was under the impression that this device is currently not working?
Has that been fixed in the meantime?
Also, is there a way to save a custom stat or “resource” like player character experience in an RPG style game? I didn’t see that in the documentation.
Yea its not working, I’m sure they wouldn’t allow persistence for all creative maps only select creators just due to the shear amount of data they would have to store on everysingle island.
It works fine in Fortnite Creative and is being used thousands of maps, they’re just working on persistence for UEFN before giving tools for it for a variety of reasons. I think they mentioned this more specifically in a devices q&a they did.
Hi! Anyone aware if there’s been more word on the save device in UEFN? I couldn’t find the Q&A mentioned in the above post.
Yes, they have it in now. It’s in the devices folder and can be used to save data
