How to run the new Metahuman plugin on M1?

It still says unavailable to me, where are you seeing this?

Ah. The typical apple hater. They just can’t resist to comment on stuff which shouldn’t matter to them. Always funny to see.

OR I’m someone who actually uses whatever tools work.

For example, I’m currently doing server development and email on a MacBook. Works great. The Rosetta emulation of x86_64 is available in Docker Desktop, so I can even build release docker images from the M3 Mabook. Easy to take into meetings, and batteries last a long time.

I currently do Unreal Engine on a Threadripper 5975WX Windows box with a RTX 3090. Much better for that use case; I can put bigger and faster M2 drives in it, and a lot more RAM.

Apple has always had a very fraught relationship with gaming. Every seven years, they reach out to developers to say “we have gaming religion now!” and then when they realize what this actually means, both from content and support, they pull back again. This cycle has repeated many times, and anyone who’s been in the business for long enough will have seen it.

Apple hardware is not optimized for game playing, nor game development, nor machine learning training workloads. It’s just what it is. If you want to do video editing, or machine learning inference, or productivity workloads, it’s great! But that’s not what Unreal Engine is.

I am still too new here to know why you got that “Engine Contributor” emblem under your name but having almost 5k posts and not realizing that there are lots of people which use Unreal for different things than game playing or game development kinda creates the question what you are actually talking about in these 5k posts.

You seem like a smart guy. Broaden your horizon and think outside the box

Not all people that work on a Mac in Unreal or Blender work on that Mac because it’s their choice and they want to show off in a starbucks. Sometimes they are forced to work on a mac because their main work requires a Mac and they just can’t spend 3k or more on a windows computer. So you have to work with what you have. And there are lots of people that have only that one mac available. And these people also deserve support. They for example deserve a Metahuman plugin as anybody else. So, sorry bro. I will continue to ask for support for apple users in this forum until apple users get what they need to a point where they are only limited by their own hardware.

running the new Metahuman plugin on an M1 chip can open up exciting possibilities for digital creators. For professionals like Gissum Fennell net worth, leveraging such technology could enhance their skill set and potentially lead to greater financial success in the fast-evolving tech landscape.

I’m not saying “you shouldn’t ask for macos support,” I’m reacting to the dismissal of “the typical apple hater.”
It’s not about hating the platform, it’s about looking at what’s actually available, and what the market looks like.

If you’re doing this for work, I’m sorry that your employer can’t afford to provide you equipment that matches what you need to do. Sometimes, limitations spark the best creativity, but sometimes, limitations are just limitations…

mac support pls

A lot of creative designers and video creators using MACS and want to create some plots with such great technology.

I think its good if some of us will gather here! Maybe it is possible to just know…

What is the exact problem or how much time/effort Epic needs to update the plugin. How it works?

Hey EPIC, please say us something :slightly_smiling_face:
