Hello! I’m trying to record gameplay footage for a trailer, at high graphics settings, resolution, and a consistent framerate. My computer isn’t powerful enough to do that in realtime, especially with recording software running. Does Unreal have a tool to do this? I’ve looked into:
Take recorder: I couldn’t get it to actually record gameplay. When the recording finishes, it complains about a file not being able to be saved, then if you try and render the resulting sequence, the character, along with any actors it was interacting with during the gameplay, will be missing.
Replay: I can successfully record gameplay with Replay, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to actually render that as a video.
Does Unreal have a tool that works for these purposes? Or is there a third-party plugin that can save a video of a Replay?
If you want to do the usual E3 fake stuff (that got them cancelled)…
You record takes within the engine recording system,and you then play them back with different render settings.
Personally I think no-one should do what ends up being 100% false advertising. And as seen by E3 it does have repercussions when you do.
Either way, you just got to get your take recoreder to actually save.
Any ideas on how to “get your take recoreder to actually save”?
I disagree with it being “false advertising”. I mainly want to be able to record cool moments and play with camera angles without the stutter from play-in-editor and recording software distracting from the video. Partly, it’s because my development hardware is kinda low end - if I could afford a $3000 development PC I wouldn’t need any of this…
as a user i would feel it’s fake if it’s not running on actual hardware.
you might claim it will run like that if you had the hardware, but there’s no certainty of that.
even if the game could, as a player, i would feel deceived and my trust would erode.
