How to Properly Make an Icon texture for use in an Inventory System

Hello, I’m new to UE5 and I trying to follow a tutorial I found on YT on making an Inventory. The Author skips the part when Making an Icon for Items the character picks up. My question is what is the best way to Make an icon for an inventory item for UE5? It seems there are no Tutorials on the subject that I can find. The Time Stamp is 8:32 to where he made the Icon but skips it for whatever reason. Thanks in advance!!

Any texture you use for an icon will need to be created externally in a photo editor such as Photoshop to your specified dimensions.

You can create basic icons of solid colors and place text on them in UMG, or make materials for procedural effects, but they are generally ugly.

That’s why he skipped over it in the tutorial because he made them externally and said he wasn’t gonna go over that lol. You may find ready made images you can buy from certain websites that are royalty free, but they’ll only be as custom as you can find to suite your needs and pay for them.

HI @GhostHackerXL1 ,
I have gone through the same frustration and I have just finished a video tutorial that goes through how to make a system that you can use to make icons for your UI.
I am pretty new to YouTube videos, so I am a bit boring I am sure, but I think the result is useful. Here is the link to the playlist.
