How to Merge MetaHuman LOD5 into one Skeletal Mesh

How do I turn a metahuman into a single skeletal mesh asset. I would like to optimize metahumans with bone animation textures, but I need to somehow consolidate them. At LOD5 hair becomes static mesh and so I would like to use this LOD.

Have you figured this out at all?

Add a custom LOD Index for the BP Components

Character BP > LODSync Component > Details > LOD > Custom LODMapping

  1. Type name of BP Component
  2. Enter desired LOD Index

For example:

  • min LOD set to 1
  • Hair LOD set to 3, at index 1

The Hair will never go below LOD 3.

You can find the Static Mesh in the MetaHumans…Helmets folder. But I was unable to get them to show up for some reason?

Search the Hair Groom asset for a direct link to the hair LOD 5 Static Mesh asset.
