Hi,
I was scanning a metal pot and got a ring of blurry texture during texturing with visibility method. This got me thinking how to make sure a sharp texture? I was using a 100mm macro lens, f11 but RC seemed to use some blurry image for texturing. How could I control it? And what is the best practice when taking the photo? Because using a 100mm macro creates a fairly shallow DOF and the images can be blurry when the scanned object has some depth. I remember reading a post talking about using a specific naming for folders so RC knows what to use for texturing but I could not find it anywhere now, it would be wonderful if someone could link the post!
Thank you so much!
Hi, you can disable blurry images for texturing or provide a focus stacking to get focused image.

Hi,
Thanks for replying!
This post is exactly what I requested, but it does not seem to mention how to automatically disable blurry images. I read a post asking for the feature in 2021 Adjustable threshold for discarding blurry photos in texturing
Is it a feature now? It would help so much if RC could do it automatically.
Thanks again.
Hi, there is no way to automatically disable unfocused images in RealityCapture for now. I ca add your vote here to increase the feature’s priority.
Yes please do!
As for the moment, is there an easier way to control the sharpness of the texture? There are images that are only partially blurry like this one, is there any way to mask the image by sharpness? And what is the best practice when taking closed-up photos of an object with rather big depth?
Thanks again for your kind teaching!
There is no way to mask such images in RealityCapture. You need to do it in other application.
As I mentioned, the best option is using the focus stacking.
