How to make player ride an auto-running animal where player controls the left/right direction?

Hi, I would like to have a section in my game where the player rides an animal that moves straight forward while the player controls its direction. I have been following this video which is good so far, but now i need to make some changes to it so that the animal is always moving forward and the player has to change the direction. Could anyone help me add this on?

Below is a clip from Ratchet & Clank that shows a good example of what I’m looking to create.

Easiest thing to do would be use tick and add move input to the movement component (if using a character for mount) with actor forward vector being the world direction input. Sorta like the enhanced input move on default 3rd person char. For turning, just connect your left’right key events (or just the x axis of 2d enhanced input move input) to an add controller yaw input node (like in IA_Look event on 3rdperson template char).

Also, in that tut you linked, I’d change the part where it destroys player, and just attach the player to mount when you get on. And probably make a bool var on player char like bIsMounted which the anim bp can use to turn on the mounted animation. EG, in anim graph, have a blend by bool node with regular anim stuff plugged into false, and the mounted blendpace plugged into true. Then just bind the bool pin on blend node to bIsMounted on owning character. Just remember to save a ref to original pawn somewhere so you can tell controller to repossess it.

thank you ur the goat
