How to make my map not too dark?

I have disable time of day managers checked on and have lights throughout my map. For me it’s lit up fine, and for some other people on PS5 and PC it’s fine. But some people say that the map is too dark and I don’t know how to fix it because for me it’s fine.

I’m not sure if it’s just inconsistent across platforms or if there’s a way for me to fix this so it’s more consistent across platforms?

Hi NotNormann,

It could likely be due to the difference in monitor’s settings, it could also be if some computers are running in HDR and others not.

If you ask each person for a screenshot of the same location, you should be able to compare that with yours to see if it is darker or lighter. If it is the same then it is the monitor, if not then it could be scalability differences.

Most games get round this by providing a gamma or brightness slider.

Thank you,

Anthony

Quite a few people have mentioned that it’s too dark leading me to believe it’s the lighting that is just inconsistent across platforms not only someone’s monitor settings. I wonder how people who make horror maps and need lighting to be right deal with this issue

Hello,

There can be major lighting differences between someone playing on mobile / low end console / low settings PC and high settings PC.

You should be able to approximately see the differences using the built in scalability settings.

Also you can check by turning your settings to low in-game.

I’ve seen on many horror maps that in the intro area they insist on running the map with high settings.

Happy to troubleshoot more about ways to help mitigate the graphics difference.
