How to make megaphone sound effect?

Hello
I’m trying to make a megaphone so that when the player talks to it, he can hear himself, I made it with source bus. But i want to make effect like it from real megaphone with some crackles or extra noise or something like that.

I know this should probably be done using the Source Effect Chain, but I don’t understand exactly how to do it.

Hey there!

To be honest, I haven’t directly used source effect chains but there are options for distortion/pass filters/EQ.

Whenever I try to make this effect in a DAW, I aim to boost mid frequencies (cutting high/low) and/or adding some distortion. Definitely will need some playing around with numbers but I would try those effect chains first and you should be able to dial it in from there.

As far as hooking up with SE chains, there’s some great YouTube tutorials on getting those hooked up.

You can use MetaSounds for that.

Here’s the way I do it:

I use a Band Pass filter with high resonance and a slight reverb.
You may also want to multiply the audio to make a distortion effect.

Try doing this and tweaking it.

Thanks to all who replied, yes I got what I wanted.

My main problem was that I didn’t know how to properly apply effects to the Audio Bus. But all in all I figured it out and it worked.

But I think there’s still a lot to figure out about the Source Effect Chain.
