I just made a cylinder and took the ends off
The GIF is 3 cylinders. The grey one is just a standard cylinder. Then an orange one, which doesn’t move
and the blueish one
Very basic at the moment, it just rotates, but some sort of up and down would be good. The material is quite simple

don’t know if you have that. But really any vertically striped texture will do. As long as it doesn’t have anything at one end

and works pretty well ( it is a thruster shape after all 
) Even without the distortion
