At the moment you cannot do this. Unreal does not recognize blender particles. Don’t convert them to mesh either you will end up with thousands of verticies. So you are left with the old school method of using hair cards but the new hair shader model in 4.11 should help make it look nice when you set it up correctly. For the future look into nvidia hairworks. Currently unreal doesn’t support apex hair but if you get Maya, you can get a hairworks plugin and the data will transfer in the fbx file to work in unreal. Also you could get a hairworks plugin from github on a UE fork to work with source code. Then look for the blender to hairworks plugin someone is working on. It isn’t perfected but it works. It is complicated. Sorry, this is one part of game dev that isn’t a beginner level topic.
thank you EyeDee10Tee for answering me, what you mean for hair cards ? is that polygon hairs method ? and what hairworks plugin i get from github i mean is that for UE4? or is that nvidia hairworks plugin? i donload nvidia hair works but it didn’t work, i have maya ,3dsmax blender and i m ok in blender and i m learning maya and 3dsmax please tell me how do i make long realistic hairs for 4.11 which is the best way to make hairs for character , so i will learn that , thank you
i am sorry for the late reply. my computer went down. Nvidia hairworks is not supported in unreal. but if you have the skills you can get the unreal source code and nvidia hairworks plugin for unreal off of github. this is the only way to be able to import apex hair currently. OR you can use the hairworks plugin for maya. when you save the FBX in maya it will come into unreal. that is my understanding at this point because i dont have a licensed maya so for paid work i still use the old poly method. But dont knock it, for paragon that is the way they did hair and worked up the hair material in material editor. there isnt much info out there yet but in material editor you can change the shader model to hair and that will get you started in making great hair in unreal.
Do you guys foresee a time when hair made in blender cycles will be able to be used in Unreal?
