how to make an ammo belt for an LMG asset? Like floppy around and as go into the gun it disappears. the more I think about it, I don't even know where to start.

So I want an ammo belt on the side of an LMG and when firing will move it into the LMG and make it disappear, or for the PKM to move it to the other side missing the bullet.

The only idea I have is brute force where each round is an object and each round has a physic connected to the next round, and after going through the LMG I can make it invisible or destroy it, but if goes to 100 rounds then that is a lot of objects with physics let alone draw calls.

The only idea I have is a brute force where each round is an object and each round uses physics simulation and is connected to the next round, after the bullet goes through the LMG as being used, I can make it invisible or destroy it to create the effect the bullet has been used and ejected. But the main issue with this brute force method is if the ammo belt to 100 rounds then that is a lot of objects with physics let alone draw calls.

For ammo belts in an ammo box, I can do movie magic where the ammo belt is rigid and just goes back and forth and the human brain will just assume it is going into the LMG but I don’t know what to do when running near empty your ammo and thus see the end of the ammo belt going in.

Was wondering if the community has any ideas or inspiration on how to do this. Feel like has been done before but I can’t find any info on it.

I’m unable to find any info on this either.
I have modelled a mounted Browning M2, but my ammo belt is currently a static spline mesh.
I have have made a skeletal mesh version of the belt, but I can’t get it to play nice.

Perhaps it could be done as a Niagara system
Something like this just with bullets

Great suggestion. I’m going to try this.
