How to handle a round object without moving or rotating it ?

Hi forum,

I have this object that i want to take photos of and take into RC. It’s an old log, which needs to be set laying down on the ground because it can’t be put standing up. However i know it’s not a good idea to take photos of one part of an object and then rotate it around to take photos of the other half. I’ve always known to move around my object, not move it. 


I have provided this sample image from google to illustrate the type of object i want to scan. Obviously i can’t see the bottom side of it so what’s the correct way of handling something like this?

Hello, I think, it is possible to take images this way. But you have to watch your steps and secure the right overlap between images. In this case, you can use some masks for model processing.
