Hey everyone. I’ve finally found a lot of free time on my hand so I decided to try my hand at learning how to make game assets: more specifically in how to make characters. I’ve done a bit of research and am thinking of using a Maya-Zbrush pipeline for making the character. I know this isn’t the best place to ask this type of question but how did you guys get started in learning how to make game assets?
I would recommend http://polycount.com/ to get that side of production up to snuff. Theres a lot to talk about. I started in school, and build a lot from there. There are tons of youtube videos to learn anything you can build your education there. The short short version is just start. Get a character in mind and start, ask questions along the way. It a hard, and frustrating process but don’t let that get in your way, just keep pushing and you’ll get there.
