I don’t know why this is happening, can someone guide me in the right direction here?
The bones are correctly playing the animation but only the mesh seems to be glitching out
I would start by inspecting the skinning for suspected problematic bones. Click on Character (top left of your viewport, 5th button) > Mesh > Selected Bone Weight. Then select various bones in the skeleton tree and check if the vertices they influence seem appropriate.

thanks for the reply, the actual problem was caused because I messed up the retargeting
