Thank you in advance if anyone has time to help with this issue. The screengrab shows the FBX imported into UE. You can see the sky and landscape through the windows of the barn, because the inner sides of the walls are transparent. Is it possible to export the FBX so that the inside is visible/not transparent? Also, I’d like the walls to mostly block light from (cast shadows on) the interior.
At the moment, the entire barn has a basic lambert texture. Planning to add texture in Substance Painter. Including that info because it might affect the answer to the question.
Hey there @LisaMWallace! Welcome to the community! This is actually handled by the material in Unreal. Open the material, go into it’s details on the lefthand side, and check on Two Sided. By default, the current texture will be seen on the inside as well. However, you can customize what texture the back faces use with a couple of nodes. Here’s a little tutorial (that is from UEFN but it should work in the base Unreal Engine as well).
In case anyone is reading this and wants another option - someone suggested that I give the walls thickness (i.e., extrude them in Maya, then export again). But I love the simplicity of using the FBX as is, and just changing a setting in UE. Really cool that we can also change the inside texture - thank you for the tutorial.
