I’m sure there must be a simple answer to this, but honestly, simply cannot find a working solution scouring online. I have hair grooms imported from Blender. Niagara simulation is enabled. Now, how do I actually get wind to effect the groom curves? Please see short youTube video describing my issue. Ideally, I just would like this to be real-time for some turntable renders. Thx! https://youtu.be/eJcyh6XjUrY
Hello there @stevetalkowski!
Considering you have grooms curves and Niagara already in place, it’s most likely a matter of linking them together. To run a quick check:
-
Make sure Hair Simulation is enabled, in your Groom Actor > Details, enable Simulation, then assign a Niagara Hair Physics Asset
-
Your scene should have Niagara wind actor, WindDirectionalSource, with your choice of values for strength, speed, and gust
-
Finally, check your groom aset, confirm it’s using a Niagara system, then open it, and ensure it has a Wind Force module assigned
@brs-sebascova Thx for the quick reply! Ok, a few questions and clarifications…
I created an Actor Blueprint which is comprised of the Static Mesh Component of my character’s full geometry, and ten Groom Components parented to the Static Mesh.
I am unclear on how to generate a Niagara Hair Physics Asset. Does this require that each of the ten Groom Component’s need to have a Binding created first? Once I figure this out, i will have Step 1 fully completed.
Step 2. I do have the WindDirectionalSource added to the scene.
Step 3. Would this be in the Physics tab? I see “Niagara Solver > Groom Springs” and Custom System (grayed out) with StableSpringsSystem active. I am unable to open this to check for Wind Force module.
I hope this all makes sense - i feel like i’m just missing a few crucial steps. Creating the Niagara Hair Physics Asset, assigning it properly, then verifying the Wind Force module is assigned.
