How to enable Simulate Physics on an character attached to a Geometry Cache with transform data in Sequencer

Hello! I have a scene involving a parachute. I’d like to enable “Simulate Physics” to a character while they’re attached (in Sequencer) to the Parachute animation (which is a geometry cache). I can attach the character no problem, but when I enable “simulate physics” in Sequencer, the character disappears when I scrub or render. When I simulate the game , the character falls from its last attached position onto the ground but otherwise ignores the attachment. Is there a better way to attach a character to an animated object while being able to utilize physics. Just hoping for a ragdoll look as the character glides down. Thanks in advance! I’m stumped!
